ABOUT THE PRODUCT
What is the fire pit used for?
Our fire pits are designed to hold a small ceremonial or open fire – for example, for havan, homa or puja – and can be used indoors (with adequate ventilation) or outdoors.
What are they made from?
Mild steel, chosen to hold fire and give you years of use when cared for correctly.
Will my fire pit rust?
Over time, yes – and that’s normal. Mild steel naturally discolours and develops a surface patina or light rust with exposure to heat, ash and moisture. This is an expected characteristic of the material, not a defect. Cleaning your fire pit after use and storing it dry (see the care tips below) helps keep it in good condition for longer.
Is every fire pit identical?
Because steel is a natural material and each piece is individually made, slight variations in colour, finish and texture are normal and make every fire pit unique.
Why does my fire pit have a “METALIT” logo on it?
Our products are manufactured for us by our trusted manufacturing partner, METALIT. You may see the METALIT maker’s mark on the product itself – this is completely normal and simply identifies the workshop that made it. Rest assured you’ve received a genuine item supplied by us.
USING YOUR FIRE PIT SAFELY
Can I use it indoors?
Yes, with care. Always ensure the room is well ventilated, place the fire pit on a stable, heat-proof, non-combustible surface, and keep it well clear of curtains, decorations, clothing, ceremonial materials and anything else that can catch fire. Never leave the fire unattended and keep children and pets at a safe distance.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes. When using it outdoors, please comply with your local council rules, fire-safety laws and any total fire bans in force. Place it on a stable, non-combustible surface, well clear of anything flammable.
Where should I place it?
Always on a stable, level, heat-proof and non-combustible surface – and protect the surface beneath and around it from heat and embers. Avoid timber, plastic, carpet or other heat-sensitive surfaces unless a suitable heat-resistant barrier is used.
What can I burn in it?
Use only materials appropriate for your ceremony, such as wood, ghee and camphor, in modest quantities. Never use petrol, kerosene or other flammable liquid accelerants, and always keep a means of extinguishing the fire close at hand.
FIRE RESTRICTIONS
Can I use it during a Total Fire Ban?
Not outdoors. Outdoor fires must not be lit on Total Fire Ban days. Fire restrictions vary across Australia, so you are responsible for complying with the fire rules, local council requirements and all applicable laws in your own state or territory before lighting a fire.
How do I know if fire restrictions apply?
Please check with your local fire authority or council before using your fire pit outdoors, especially through the warmer months. Fire restrictions differ by state and territory and can change quickly with the weather.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
How do I care for my fire pit?
Let it cool completely after use, remove ash regularly, wipe it clean, and dry it thoroughly. A little natural patina is Lexpected and won’t affect how it performs.
How should I store it?
Store your fire pit clean and completely dry, in a dry place away from moisture. Because it’s mild steel, leaving it damp or letting water or ash sit in it will speed up rusting.
Will removing ash make it last longer?
Yes. Ash holds moisture, which can accelerate corrosion if left sitting for long periods. Cleaning after use helps you get the most life out of your fire pit.
